Central Coast Walking Football
Inclusivity Policy
Central Coast Walking Football (CCWF) is committed to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, gender, ability, or background, feels welcome and able to participate fully in the sport of Walking Football. Accordingly, we will:
Accessible Facilities: Ensure that the facilities where we play Walking Football are accessible to all participants, including those with mobility challenges. This may include, designated parking spaces, and accessible toilets.
Inclusive Language: Use language that is respectful and inclusive of all participants. Avoid assumptions about ability, gender, or any other characteristic. We will encourage all participants to use inclusive language as well.
Equal Opportunities: Ensure that everyone has equal opportunities to participate in walking football regardless of their background or circumstances. This may involve seeking sponsorship and/or subsidies for those who may face financial barriers to participation.
Diverse Representation: Aim for diverse representation in leadership positions, and promotional materials in order to create a welcoming environment for participants from all backgrounds.
Training and Education: Provide training for volunteers and participants on topics such as diversity, inclusion, and unconscious bias, in order to create and sustain an inclusive culture within the walking football community.
Flexible Rules: Consider adapting the rules of walking football to accommodate different abilities and needs. For example, modifying the size of the playing area.
Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Clearly communicate that discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated within our Central Coast Walking Football community. We will implement our Code of Conduct procedures for reporting and addressing instances of discrimination.
Feedback Mechanisms Encourage feedback from participants on how to improve inclusivity within our walking football program. This will involve periodic surveys and providing an email contact to the CCWF Inc. Public Officer for suggestions from participants.
Celebrating Diversity: Celebrate the diversity of participants within our Central Coast Walking Football community. We will highlight success stories from participants of different backgrounds and abilities.
Partnerships: Seek to partner with organizations that specialize in promoting inclusivity and accessibility such as disability advocacy groups, LGBTQ+ organizations, or organizations that work with older adults.
By implementing an active inclusivity policy that addresses these key areas, Central Coast Walking Football aims to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.
